Adding and Subtracting Fractions with like and unlike denominators.

Dec. 1-  Dec. 18
We will be learning to Add and Subtract fractions with LIKE and UNLIKE denominators. They will need to know how to get a common denominator with unlike denominators. They will also need to take these skills and solve single and mutlistep practical problems involving adding and subtraction.  After Christmas break we will review adding and subtracting fractions and introduce Multiplication and  Division of fractions.  In the end all students should be able to Solve single and multistep practical problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of fractions.

Ratios

This week we are learning about ratios.

Key Concepts:  

·                     Read carefully and determine what you are being asked to compare.  

·                     Write the ratio in the correct order you are being asked to.

·                     Write the ratio all 3 ways; a to b, a:b, and a/b

·                     Simplify the ratio by reducing the fraction.  

·                     Recognize ALL equivalent forms of the ratio.
